Are you a college student looking for a part-time job? Do you wish to make efficient use of your free time and earn money for you extra expenses? Then you have come to the right place as I will talk about part time jobs for college students.

As a student, we aren’t actually expected to work and carry the financial load of the family. However, in some circumstances, we are compelled to step out of our comfort zones and juggle our studies and work. Some others also take part-time jobs because they have a lot of free time and think that they could earn more money for their hobbies. Whatever your reasons for looking for a job are, you have to follow certain rules to get you land the part-time work you wanted to have.

Because you are still studying and still don’t have the experience for work, it’s good that you make a resume that will show what your abilities are. Make it clean and simple. Indicate the schools you’ve been to, the rewards you have received, the organizations you have joined in, and even your interests. This will show how you have made use of your time as a student. If you will be able to show that you have been in various activities, your employer will surely be impressed on you. There are student resume samples you can look into so you’d see a picture of how a good resume should look like.

Make a research on the jobs you might enter. The jobs you may take should somehow align to what you want to do. For example, if you like reading books and you are knowledgeable about a lot of authors; you might take a job in the city library. Or if you have good customer service skills, you might want to get one in the fast food joint near your home. Or perhaps, if you’re good in maths, you can tutor that kid from the other block. Make a list of the jobs you think will suit you. Remember that your job needs not be prestigious because, after all, you are just a part-timer.

Though you are not a professional yet, you should make it a point to dress smartly on the day of your interview. Wear smart casual clothes and show your employers that though young, you are ready to take the job seriously.

When it’s already time for the interview, be sure that you get on the designated place on time. Do make the impression of punctuality and accountability.

There are also part time jobs for high school students and the things I have written above are applicable to both college and high school students. Be sure to follow these tips I have given you so you’d land the job you’ve wanted to have.

And finally, when you get in, be sure you get to do your best. Your ‘extra’ hardwork will reap you a lot more than you think; not only in monetary matters but in experience you might be able to use in the future, as well.

Tips in Finding Summer Jobs for Teenagers

Have nothing to do this summer? Willing to try something a fun summer job so you can earn on your own? There are different fun summer jobs for teenagers that are not just limited to babysitting or working part-time for a fast food joint. There are also other jobs where you can enjoy yourself and earn while you learn and have fun this summer. Below are just some tips you can do to get a fun job this summer!

First of all, think about what you consider fun and narrow down your job search around that area. For instance, if you’re into animals, especially dogs, you can ask about your local pet stores or zoos if they have vacancies. Or if you’re into fashion, you can inquire in your favorite boutique if they have openings for a part-timer.

Cover Letter for Job Application That Works

When you’re applying for a job, it’s not only the resume that makes a big impact on the employer but also the cover letter. If you want to impress the employer with your cover letter, even before they see your resume, here are 3 easy steps for you to achieve it.

The first thing you need to understand before you sit down and write your cover letter is that it should be kept short, brief, and straight. You don’t want to add a lot of fluff in your cover letter, and the employer won’t be interested to read a long and boring cover letter either. So with that in mind, here are the basic things you need to keep in mind.

Writing the Introduction
Your introduction should state immediately the position you’re applying for and where you heard about the job opening. Don’t beat around the bush by saying how great the company is and how much you want to work for them.

Writing the Body
In the body of your cover letter, the most important points it should contain are the summary of all your qualifications and skills. The employer should be able to gauge if you are any good basing on your cover letter so he’ll be interested in reading more about you in your resume.

Writing the Conclusion
The conclusion is sometimes the most crucial part in writing a cover letter. You should mention the exact day when you’ll be available for interview, and it should be soon so that the employer will know that you are serious about meeting them and getting the job. Also, don’t forget to thank the employer and of course mention briefly that he take a look at your resume.

These three easy steps will let you write and effective cover letter easily and without beating around the bush. This style is simple but it’s effective in serving its purpose of letting the employer know everything he wants to. Follow this and you may be on your way to a job interview already.

Strategies For Successful Resume Writing

In writing a resume, a lot of people have different approaches and theories about how a resume can be most effective. But with all these things, those who are just starting to learn how to write one might be confused. And to avoid this, let’s go back to knowing the basics in resume writing.

First of all, you have to understand that all the information you are going to write in your resume should be accurate and up-to-date. That means that there is no point mentioning that you won the Most Friendly Classmate award when you were in second grade. Be as current and relevant as possible. Say, if you’re applying for a job as a writer, you might want to mention special achievements you had in college where you were acknowledged for your talent for writing.

Second of all, make sure that the information you put in your resume has parallelism. All the words and phrases that you’re going to enumerate or list in a bullet point have to be parallel to each other to avoid confusion. Make sure also that you polish your grammar. Nothing makes a bad impression more than bad grammar and structure.

Third of all, you can only bend or break the rules when you completely understand them. That being said, don’t make any fancy alterations to your resume when you’re writing it just because you think it will make your resume cooler or stand out. What stands out about a resume are the information and the credibility of the person that come from the overall impression of the resume.

If you remember these few key things, you’ll be able to write a more decent resume next time. For the first-timers, you’ll be able to understand the basics of writing a resume and may be able to post your basic resume online to serve as a good example to other people.

See How You Can Improve Your Resume With These 7 Tips

Wondering how to make your resume stand out? Need some resume tips to spruce up your old one and make it eye-catching to recruiters?

Imagine this scenario. An HR personnel opens her email early in the morning. There are about a hundred applicants for an open position in the company. The personnel scans the emails, her attention waning at the tenth, eleventh, twelfth application… Yours is the fiftieth one.

Every day, hundreds upon hundreds of people apply for jobs. Human Resource departments and recruitment agencies are swamped with hopefuls hoping to get attention. If you’re applying for a particular job, chances are, other people are applying for the exact same position as well. So, how do you make your resume stand out from the rest?

Read On for the Best Resume Tips

Here are some resume tips to help you look dazzling – even on paper.

1.	State your job objective.
People tend to forget to state their job objective when writing a resume. Make sure you don’t. This will help your employer assess your career goals and give them the impression that you’re driven. Not having any goals will reflect badly on your work ethic.

2.	Work history
State your previous work experience chronologically. This will make it easier to read. If you’re a fresh grad, it would be good to list down summer jobs or internships. Here’s a sample of the chronological template:
Feb 2000 – March 2001, Exhibits Manager, Metropolitan Museum
June 1999 – January 2000, Receptionist/Assistant, Children’s Foundation

3.	Experience
Most employees will look for experience related to the job you’re applying for, so don’t forget to put that in. What if you don’t have the experience? You can highlight the skills you have that can be useful for the specific position.

4.	Different resume for different job targets
If you’re targeting different job positions (ex. Actress and bartender), make different resumes for each. Highlight the appropriate skills and experiences for each position.

5.	Simple and professional.
Don’t go all fancy with your resume. Print it out on a clean, white paper with readable and professional-looking font. Perfumed, pink resumes might tick some people off. Understandably.

6.	Cover letters
Be straightforward with your cover letter. No rambling on and on for paragraphs, no detailed personal history, no sob stories about your pet dog. Try to limit your letter to one page. State your intent for joining the company and why you think they should hire you. The end.

7.	Picture
Putting a picture on your resume gives the employer the first glimpse into your personality. Remember, first impressions may not last, but they do count. So, choose a nice, decent picture of yourself. No Spring Break pics or anything of the sort. A 1×1 grad picture or one with you in corporate attire is standard.

Hope these resume tips help. For more info, don’t hesitate to read on.

There are a lot of Architecture graduate students every year, all of them seeking for a perfect cover letter to back their resumes up and give them the push or shove of confidence they need in applying for the job they want. If you want to learn how to write a cover letter for Architecture students specifically, there’s a simple format that you can follow to guide you with your application. You need not complicated formats of cover letters before you can come up with a decent one. All you need is a good sample cover letter and you’re done.

When writing a cover letter, bear in mind that your goal is to get the employer to read your resume. This means that you have to get the employer interested immediately. You can do this easily by mentioning your special skills and qualifications that you think are the most important in the kind of job you’re applying, which in this case is architecture.

Who Else Wants To Learn How to Write a Winning Cover Letter?

When you begin writing a cover letter, the first thing you have to mention is where you found out about the job posting. Did you come across in on the internet? Were you referred by a friend who’s already working for that company? Did you see the job ad on the Sunday paper? This is important for the employer to find out what kind of person you are.

The next pieces of information you have to mention are your strongest points. Whether they have something to do with your skills or your knowledge about something, it’s important to say them immediately so the employer won’t have to guess and will know immediately that you’re serious about applying for the job. What other people might take as conceitedness can actually come off as a brilliant streak of confidence and could get you the job, so remember that when you’re sitting down writing a cover letter.

Also, other pieces of information about yourself that you can put in a cover letter for architecture students are relevant work experience, if there are any, and the time and date of your availability for an interview. It is best to mention a date just a few days ahead, to give off the impression that you’re interested and serious about the job, rather than give a month’s notice for availability because the slot may have been filled by then. There’s no problem if you’re just learning how to write a cover letter, the important thing is that you follow the basic format.

For a sample resume for job application for Home Depot, you can easily look for a number of them online. For example if the job requires qualities such as being hardworking, flexible, and a team player, surely you will know immediately if you are those things.

If however, the qualifications are more specific and are verging on the technical stuff, like the ability to operate a certain machine, or have knowledge on certain programs on the computer, think of the related abilities that you might have like being a fast-learner, or having studied some of the basics required and saying that you are capable of learning new things faster because of your knowledge of the basics.
